Buying Your Prom Dress: Make a Budget and Stick to It

January 11th, 2010

When it concerns prom season, developing a budget is your best bet for having a carefree time. If you want to be able to put on the prom gown you’ve always dreamed of and make your whole prom a memory you’ll carry forever, you need to begin with a firm budget.

Establishing spending limits might appear to be a restrictive thing to do, but the truth is that it offers you greater flexibility. If you go through money without any restraint you might go broke more rapidly than you might think, leaving you with no alternative but to cut some major corners. With a financial plan you realize your parameters, giving you the flexibility to do whatever you want inside of those limitations.

Start planning your budget about four weeks in advance and determine the cost of anything you will want for the occasion. This includes the banquet, the limousine ride, shoes, jewelry, hair styling, and corsages. As soon as you have made your list, you can start making preparations for the festivities ahead.

As soon as your financial plan is established, you can start searching for your prom dress. Look everywhere you can think of: discount outlets, mass merchandisers, online stores, and second hand stores. If you get your ideal prom dress at a lower price than planned, this allows you to take the remaining cash and use it for a different area of your budget. The thing to keep in mind is that getting a good deal is the goal.

As soon as your dress is purchased, you can start shopping for jewelry, shoes and a bag. Remember, getting a good deal is central. You will be more likely to find the perfect accent pieces by searching in every shop you can. Search in places such as flea markets, online auction websites, arts and crafts exhibitions or, if you are very creative and frugal, make your jewelry and accessories by yourself. Alternatively, you could borrow your accessories from a friend or family member if you would rather.

When you have everything you require, take another look at your budget. If you saved cash in one area, for example your dress, then put the funds saved towards another part of your budget. Maybe you can find the money for the limo after all, or buy that expensive evening bag that goes perfectly with your dress.

In the end, when sticking to a budget throughout prom season, you are avoiding any headaches you may otherwise have had. More to the point, what could possibly top getting dressed up in the gown of your dreams and looking like a princess, all the while knowing that you did it on a budget?

Prom is a time in your life where all your dreams should come true. Don’t let money keep you from making your night special and memorable. A budget can provide you with the freedom you need to be carefree and just enjoy yourself.

There are few events in life that are more important than your graduation prom. For most girls, it’s essential that they look and feel their best on this exciting night. So you need to make sure you’re making the right choice when sifting through all the grad dresses that are available.

Gorgeous Discount Grad Dresses Aren’t an Impossible Dream

When dressing up for your prom night, it’s important for most girls to have a unique and outstanding dress. This is difficult to accomplish, though, with so many girls after the same goal. But the trick to finding something unique is to make some original touches to your dress that reflect your personality. The ideal background for the sort of thing is discount grad dresses.

Girls seem to think that formal prom dresses are only good if they cost a lot of money. That is not necessarily so, though. Being able to express your inner self through your wardrobe is one of the most wonderful things about obtaining discount grad dresses. Through this, you will have only the best of both options. And you can get matching shoes or amazing jewelry with the money you save, making your ensemble the envy of many.

The best place to get a discount prom dress is on the internet. Consider shopping at one of the many online shops that have lovely gowns at great prices. Normally they sell discontinued lines or they just sell at a lower price since their overhead is lower than a real store.

You can also find a less costly dress in a second hand store. Some girls may miss a great bargain on a discount prom dress because they believe second hand retailers have nothing to offer them. Even used grad dresses can still look bright and fresh due to only being worn for a single night.

There are simple ways of making old clothing come to life if you are handy with a needle and thread. Keep in mind that you want to stand apart from the crowd, not be lost in it. But the skill to alter creations and add the special touches that make a unique statement is not one that everyone has. If you are not comfortable making changes to your prom dress, then seek out someone who knows how to do it right to get some help.

It is ridiculous to spend a lot of money on a prom dress that you will never wear again. That is why you should consider looking for discount grad dresses in second hand or thrift stores. This kind of bargain is especially great because you get to save cash and look fantastic at the same time! There is no reason not to shop around to see what discount grad dresses you might find in these places.

Choosing Your First Prom Dress

May 28th, 2009

It’s never too early to think about your dance dress. Like weddings dresses, it is one of the most important dress you will own. Since it is a right of passage from childhood, your prom night should be treated with the pomp and circumstance it deserves. Those of you whose parents can aford it will hire a limousine for the occasion. Photographs will be taken, and kept for the rest of your life ( and possibly for your childrens also) so you want to look and feel) your very best. Your best prom dress will be the very foundation of the look. Everything else, your shoes, your hairstyle, your makeup and your jewelry will be planned around your dress.

You need to look honestly at yourself before even thinking about the dress. Are you one of the lucky ones who are perfectly proportioned, or like most of us either skinny or overweight? Are you top heavy or does your bust line leave a little to be desired? Are your legs long or short, and how do you rate your hips? Before choosing your dress, all of this should be carefully considered. One final thing. Don’t actually buy your dress if you select it a long time before the dance. You want the prom dress designs to fit on the night, and you may well gain or lose weight.  All the above factors are still true if you decide to have a dress designed and made specially for you.

Once you have identified your good points and those things you wish to minimise, you need to decide on a style of dress. There are loads of places you can get advice about the best style to suit your particular figure. Tight fitting dresses will always restrict your movement, and exagerate any imperfections of your figure. This is true no matter what your figure. You do want to be able to dance all night after all. Go try on a range of different styles and colors and take someone with you to help you make the final decision. You need to find someone who will be honest with you when deciding who to take. You need an honest opinion, so don’t tell them what you think you are looking for in advance.

Once you have chosen your dress, then consider your hairstyle and make up. If you have long hair, you will have to make the decision about whether to put it on top of your head or leave it around your shoulders. An upswept hairstyle looks really good if you have a long slender neck, and good skin complexion. Loose hair may not look very good if the neckline of the dres is ornate. Think also about what your hair will do when you dance. You need a hairstlye that will survive the night long dancing. You can always help keep your hair in control with ornaments and clis/grips. If you have short hair, you can always add extensions to your hair if you want to go for the long look or add a false piece set in curls on top of you head for something totally different.

Your evening is about having having a wonderful time, so don’t get totally caught up in the look and design of your gown prom dresses. The night is about you, whatever your dance dress looks like. It will look good and it will show if you feel happy and confident. So just get out there, enjoy yourself.
